Overview

The Australian National Committee on Large Dams Incorporated (ANCOLD Inc) is an incorporated voluntary association of organisations and individual professionals with an interest in dams in Australia. ANCOLD was formed in 1937 as the Australian national committee of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD), a non-government organisation established in 1928, and is one of 81 member countries.

Australian National Committee on Large Dams ( ANCOLD ) required a fresh look for their already existing website. The ANCOLD site required a custom made E-Commerce Content Management System allowing visitors to gain information about large dams and also to allow users to purchase publications online using a unique shopping cart module..

I wanted to enable the owners to have total control over the content of the website. 90% of all content shown on the front of the site can be edited and updated by the owners without needing to know complex programming languages. The philosophy behind the build was to allow ANCOLD to easily update their content, edit, delete and add new puplications for sale.

The site was modular built and uses a membership module that needed to be compatible and be able to access a current member database written in Microsoft Access. The membership module was written around the existing members database as I did not want to make changes to the ANCOLD database as they use it for other purposes as well.
The site utilizes a vast range of website development technologies including XHTML, CSS, DHTML, ASP, ASP.NET, XML and AJAX.
